What we collect
We collect minimal data. When you visit this site, the following may be collected automatically:
- Google Analytics (GA4) — anonymised page views, device type, country, and session duration. No personally identifiable information is stored. IP addresses are anonymised.
- Microsoft Clarity — session recording and heatmap tool. Records anonymised user interactions including mouse movements, clicks, and scroll behaviour to help us improve the site. No personally identifiable information is collected. See Microsoft's Privacy Statement and Clarity Terms.
- Google AdSense — may use cookies to serve relevant advertisements. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Local storage — your preferred language, temperature unit (°F/°C), and food safety authority are saved in your browser's local storage so we remember your preferences. This data never leaves your device.
Cookies
We do not set first-party cookies for tracking. Google Analytics, Google AdSense. Microsoft Clarity records session data to help us understand how visitors use the site — this data is anonymised and does not identify individual users. You can opt out of Google Analytics via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Data retention
Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months. Microsoft Clarity session data is retained for 13 months. Local storage preferences remain in your browser until you clear them.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights under GDPR (EU/UK), CCPA (California), or other privacy laws. Since we collect minimal data and no personally identifiable information directly, most requests can be fulfilled by clearing your browser's local storage and installing the GA opt-out add-on.
